Squirrel Removal

squirrel-895296_640Squirrels are one of the most common wildlife to wander into populated areas. These rodents mainly feed on acorns, nuts, seeds, and fruits but some species can also feed on eggs, nestlings, and insects.

When in private properties, they can cause destruction to landscaped lawns and garden plants. They can create holes in walls to enter homes and buildings to seek shelter. Once inside, they can chew electrical wirings which may result to fire. Some species are also hosts to parasites, such as ticks, fleas, and mange.

If squirrels have become a persistent problem, it’s best to let experts get rid of them for good. Our squirrel removal services include habitat modification, installation of exclusion devices, and trapping.

Raccoon Removal

raccoons-1685534_640

Raccoons are omnivorous animals common throughout the U.S. They prefer to live in wooded areas near water than in plain fields. Areas near livestock, farms, and crop fields are also attractive habitats for these nocturnal animals.

Raccoons wander in suburban and urban areas to look for new sources of food and a safe shelter. These animals are destructive, can be a threat to pets, and can be carriers of rabies and raccoon roundworms.

Raccoons are clever and can become aggressive. Removing them from your property is a task better left to professionals. Our raccoon removal services include habitat modification, trapping, and installing exclusion devices.

Bat Removal

BAT (2)Bats are nocturnal mammals that mainly feed on insects. They come in different species which can either be solitary or colonial. Colonial bats can become more of a problem than solitary bats. These bats can get through tiny crevices and live in attics or empty buildings.

Bats can cause significant damage to properties and they can be a health threat to humans and other animals. Bat guano and urine are the main cause of the problem. It can cause stains on walls and floors. It leaves a pervasive odor that can spread to other areas. It attracts organisms which can be harmful to your health. Bats can also carry rabies and can infect other animals during an encounter.

Getting rid of a colony of bats living inside your property is a difficult task. The wisest thing to do is hire an expert to do it. Our bat removal services include inspection, installation of one-way devices, sealing of gaps and bat holes, repair, and cleanup services.

Skunk Removal

SKUNK (3)Skunks are known for their acrid smell even from a distance. These animals feed on both plant and animals, but they’re diet mainly consist of snakes, rodents, insects, grubs, and earthworms. They can be helpful in eliminating other dangerous organisms but they can be a problem as well.

Skunks avoid human presence, but they need to be rid of when in your property because they can carry diseases, such as distemper, rabies, and tularemia. They can also spread ticks, fleas, mites, and tapeworms.

Skunks are known for spraying a stinky and irritating discharge when threatened. Avoid handling these animals on your own. The best thing to do is hire an expert. Our skunk removal experts are knowledgeable on the animals’ behavior and skilled in installing traps without triggering the animal’s defense mechanism.

Bird Removal

BIRD (2)Birds are beneficial to the environment, but they can become a pest when not in their natural habitat. Pigeons, starlings, and sparrows are birds that commonly nest or roost in urban areas. Droppings, feathers, noise, and odor are problems that normally arise when birds inhabit a place in large numbers. These animals can also build their nests in vents blocking the ventilation of a room.

With their flying abilities, birds can be difficult to get rid of. However, we will be happy to safely do the task for you. Our bird removal services include trapping roosting birds, installation of exclusion device, and removing their food sources in your area.

Affordable, Humane Wildlife (Raccoon, Bat, Squirrel) Removal Chicago

We know that Chicago residents appreciate wildlife, and we all enjoy seeing animals in a natural setting. Nothing compares to the sight of a family of deer in a woodland environment. Squirrels frolicking with each other are entertaining, and a flock of birds in flight is certainly a sight worth seeing. However, when any form of wildlife finds its way into your home, you will likely need the help of an experienced professional. Wild animals can quickly damage the interior and exterior of a structure. A raccoon that looks lovable can destroy your child’s toys and other belongings. A squirrel that makes a nest in your attic could chew a hole in the ceiling of your living room. We are aware that once you have a wild creature in your home, you will need it removed as quickly as possible. We also know that most of our customers do not want us to harm the critters we remove. We want you to know that wildlife removal can be humane and affordable.

In addition to removing live animals safely, we are also available to remove dead animals from your property. If an animal has damaged your abode, we can help with the repairs. We are pleased to offer our cleaning services if a critter has left urine or feces in your home. Your satisfaction is our goal, and we hope to assist you with all of your wildlife removal needs.

Although you might be able to coax the creatures away from your home’s interior, we suggest that you leave this potentially dangerous task to us. Squirrels in Attics

It always strikes me how seasonal nuisance wildlife problems are. Raccoons in the spring, bats in August, and now squirrel season is beginning. Well let it begin. We have the expertise, ladders and traps to take care of all your squirrel removal needs in Indianapolis, Chicago, and Northwest Indiana.

Squirrels in Attics

The most common squirrel problem is squirrels in attics. We often get the description “it sounds like they are rolling nuts across the ceiling” Squirrels in the attic are a nuisance but also can create a hazardous situation. Squirrels are rodents and love to chew.  In fact, they have to keep their continuously growing teeth worn down or they will be unable to eat so they have to chew.  That includes anything you might have stored up in your attic and hopefully not something like your electrical wires.  Best to get rid of them before they cause more damage.

No squirrel job is complete without blocking the entry where the squirrel was getting in. To just remove the squirrels is only buying you a little bit of time before neighboring squirrels take up residence in the vacated attic.

We always offer our customers a flat rate to remove all the squirrels in the attic and prevent reentry. That way your problem is solved without any hidden costs along the way. Aside from that, we provide free inspection of wildlife trapping and other pest control services. Call us today!

Carmel Wildlife Removal

Illiana Wildlife Services is your Carmel animal control and wildlife pest control experts. We cover all of the Greater Indianapolis metropolitan area. We specialize in the removal and control of animals in attics.  These are usually bats, raccoons, or squirrels, depending on the season. We are state licensed with the DNR for wildlife removal.

Once the critters are gone from your attic we can give you an estimate for any damage that they may have caused.  Animals can carry diseases like rabies or raccoon roundworm and that is always a concern, but usually the greater damage is due to the compaction that they do to your insulation, resulting in higher utility bills. They  can also put holes in roofs or tear holes in soffit and or fascia. We fix it all. In many cases the damage caused by animals is covered by insurance.

We think that the way  we price our jobs are a great deal for the customer. We quote a “flat rate” to remove the raccoons and squirrels from your attic and make sure they can’t return. Some companies charge per animal. You don’t know how many animals are up there. Contact us for pricing!

Just because we specialize from removing animals from the attic doesn’t mean we don’t take care of the rest. If you have ground hogs, skunks living under your deck or moles digging up your yard, just  give us a call for best pest solutions we offer.  We would love to take care of that for you as well.

Bats are more common than one may think. If you have bats in your attic you need a bat exclusion. Bats are not trapped, instead they are allowed to release themselves through the use of a one way door called a bat cone after every opening around the house that a bat can get in is sealed up. Since there are so many styles and conditions of homes we can’t quote this one over the phone but the good thing is we offer an inspection for a reasonable fee! So what are you waiting for?

Squirrels in my Apartment

Squirrels are a constant in this business. They are just so busy and there are some many of them. Couple that with the fact that they like older mature trees that are usually found in older neighborhoods where the homes may be in need of some updating and you get a lot of squirrels in my attic calls. Recently, I have been getting a lot of “squirrels in my apartment” calls. Sometimes I get a phone call from the tenant and sometimes from the landlord.

A couple things that make “squirrels in my apartment” a little bit more difficult that a typical squirrels in my attic call. Sometimes tenants call us and want to hire us. Because we seal up the hole so no more animals can get in we need owner permission before we do any work to a building. Even if you as a tenant are going to be the one paying us please have a conversation with the landlord before setting up service.

Squirrels in my Apartment

If you are calling as a landlord, please get your tenants on board. In a lot of cases we will need access to a unit or attic and it is always helpful if the tenant is aware we are coming. In some cases it might even be wise to give us the tenants number or give them ours and we can set up a time that works for them.

We like to offer a flat rate to solve a problem. I think that is the most fair for the homeowner. It is relatively easy to perform squirrel trapping out of a yard but if you aren’t getting the ones going into the attic your problem isn’t solved but your bill will be high if you are paying per animal. When I say we solve a problem that means we come out, do an inspection, remove offending squirrels, and seal the hole so neighboring squirrels cannot move in.

A couple things to consider when getting a price to remove squirrels from your home is the height at which we have to work to seal the hole and remove the squirrels. We have some tall ladders and also, access to a lift if needed but that does involve more cost. Also, the condition of the building and what it is going to take to seal all the entrance holes that the squirrels are using need to be taken into consideration.

Give us a call at 219-464-7966 in Indiana or 708-320-0004 in Illinois to schedule an inspection to get rid of pests and squirrels in your apartment or building today.

Raccoon and Squirrel Removal

We have been busy in the first two weeks of 2014. In the last week we have removed a raccoon from an attic in Chicago and from a restaurant in Harvey IL. We even caught a stray cat from the same restaurant which we brought to the South Suburban Humane Society.

When we are not busy performing raccoon trapping we have been catching squirrels in Tinley Park, Orland Hills, Palos Heights, Gary and Portage Indiana.

We even had a job in Tinley Park this week where a lender was requiring the raccoon feces from a previous infestation to be removed as a condition for closing. We were able to accommodate that day.

Raccoon Removal

We approach every job the same way. If an animal is getting into a home when we get onsite we find out where the animal is getting in by doing an inspection. Once we know where the animal is getting in we set traps, wait until animal or animals are caught and then we seal the entrance so that no more can get in.

A couple of weeks ago we helped a customer in just this way. We got three raccoons out of her attic and sealed up the hole in her roof so that no more could get in.  Now we are going to do a full attic restoration, including removing and replacing her insulation, disinfecting and a little bit of drywall repair and paint as well.

Get rid of raccoon and call us right away. We offer flat rates to our customers. Often times our customers will tell us that they got other quotes that include a per animal charge or don’t include the sealing of the hole, just the removal of the animals. I think that having an animal in your attic is stressful enough. I don’t think you should add to it by having open ended pricing or worrying about another animal can get in. We can be reached at 219-464-7966 in Indiana or 708-320-0004 in Illinois.

Poison squirrels? No way and here’s why!

I was just looking through the search terms that people googled to find my website and one of them was “how to poison squirrels.” I think that this is such a bad idea that I thought it was worth writing a blog about.  And, the reason why might surprise you.

If you have squirrels in your attic and a squirrel control company poisons them, now you have to find a dead animal because the odor is going to be intolerable. Poison works well for mice. They are relatively small and dry out with no odor when poisoned. Squirrels are just too big. They will start to decompose and create an odor problem long before they completely dry out. Then you have the difficulty of trying to find an animal that isn’t making any sound and oftentimes includes cutting into the walls of your home to find the animal. What if there is more than one? In most cases finding a dead squirrel is going to cost more than trapping a live one.

Poison squirrels
Photo credit: ex_magician / Foter / CC BY

Ok, so poison is a bad idea. What is the correct way to handle a squirrel nuisance? Trapping. There are basically two kinds of traps; live traps and lethal traps. The live traps can be bought from most of your local hardware or big box and they work well. Peanuts or walnuts with peanut butter will catch them every time.  My preferred method of trapping squirrels is to find where they are entering the home and set a double door trap over the hole and catch them coming or going. Once I have them I seal the hole. Problem solved. It might be hard to find a double door trap at the hardware store. You might have to go to a wildlife control supply company online.

And, for the person who doesn’t want to get on that roof or crawl in that attic or buy traps that they might only use once, Illiana Wildlife Services would be happy to solve your squirrel issue and do squirrel trapping for you. Get rid of squirrels now! We service Lake and Porter County Indian ra and Cook County Illinois.

Wildlife Removal is Busy This Time of Year

Wildlife Removal Indiana

Wildlife removal has been busy this week. Just in the last week I have removed a skunk that sprayed a dog from a yard in Highland, raccoons from an attic in Gary and tomorrow I am going to an appointment to remove raccoons that have been damaging insulation in an attic in Crown Point. I also have an appointment set for Saturday to trap moles in a yard in Valparaiso.  We also have squirrel traps in a doctors office in Valparaiso. Animals are busy this time of year getting ready for winter. Don’t let them get established or cause to much damage in an attic before calling. They can trample insulation lowering r-value, defecate and cause thousands of dollars of damage in remediation work.

Just because we specialize from removing animals from attic doesn’t mean we don’t take care of the rest. Give us a call for any skunk trapping and animal control jobs like ground hogs, skunks living under your deck or moles digging up your yard.  We would love to take care of that for you as well.

Its been a busy couple of weeks doing squirrel removal out of attics in Lake and Porter County. We got squirrels out of houses in Gary and Valparaiso last week. In one case we got six squirrels from one home, in another just two. Every situation is different. Squirrels like to enter attics because they are warm and safe from predators there. In both houses they had chewed holes in the soffit and gained entry. If you have squirrels in the attic or walls of your home you should calls us. We are knowledgeable professionals that can solve your squirrel problem efficiently.

We quote a “flat rate” to remove the raccoons and squirrels from your attic and make sure they can’t return. Some companies charge per animal. You don’t know how many animals are up there. Call us for pricing!
