When animals break into your attic, they quickly come in contact with your insulation and if left up there for a while, they can really wreak havoc. That is where Illiana Wildlife Services comes in. Not only do we remove the animals, but we also repair the damage, including damage to your attic’s insulation.
We commonly see the most damage done to attics by raccoons. When they walk over your insulation, they compress it, destroying its R value, resulting in decreased energy efficiency and higher utility bills.
Animals damages the attic
The other animals that commonly do damage to your attics’ insulation are bats. Not that they are heavy, but because bats are small it makes it easier for them to fit in small holes, and the accumulation of feces and urine leaves an odor. Getting rid of it means completely removing the existing insulation and then replacing it with a new one after spraying a deodorizer or disinfectant.
Sometimes, a complete removal/replacement is not necessary and all we need to do is add an insulation for minor damages. The homeowner may also be short on insulation, or may want to sell their home someday and want to avoid the stigma or questions when the home buyer’s inspector opens up the attic and sees feces.
Everyone’s situation is different. For some people, their homeowners insurance covers animal damages. However, other people pay out of their own pockets. We try to weigh all the factors and then advise clients on how we would react in their situation.
Insulation and the resulting lower utility bills it provide.
We do love insulation and the resulting lower utility bills it provide. Sometimes, there are Federal tax rebates for energy efficiency upgrades. If you have had animals in your attic in the past or currently have animals and need them removed, ask us about our services. We would love to help.
Illiana Wildlife Services is your Carmel animal control and wildlife pest control experts. We cover all of the Greater Indianapolis metropolitan area. We specialize in the removal and control of animals in attics. These are usually bats, raccoons, or squirrels, depending on the season. We are state licensed with the DNR for wildlife removal.
Once the critters are gone from your attic we can give you an estimate for any damage that they may have caused. Animals can carry diseases like rabies or raccoon roundworm and that is always a concern, but usually the greater damage is due to the compaction that they do to your insulation, resulting in higher utility bills. They can also put holes in roofs or tear holes in soffit and or fascia. We fix it all. In many cases the damage caused by animals is covered by insurance.
We think that the way we price our jobs are a great deal for the customer. We quote a “flat rate” to remove the raccoons and squirrels from your attic and make sure they can’t return. Some companies charge per animal. You don’t know how many animals are up there. Contact us for pricing!
Just because we specialize from removing animals from the attic doesn’t mean we don’t take care of the rest. If you have ground hogs, skunks living under your deck or moles digging up your yard, just give us a call for best pest solutions we offer. We would love to take care of that for you as well.
Bats are more common than one may think. If you have bats in your attic you need a bat exclusion. Bats are not trapped, instead they are allowed to release themselves through the use of a one way door called a bat cone after every opening around the house that a bat can get in is sealed up. Since there are so many styles and conditions of homes we can’t quote this one over the phone but the good thing is we offer an inspection for a reasonable fee! So what are you waiting for?
Call us for all your Carmel wildlife removal or control needs today.
These are some more pictures I have taken of raccoon damage in an attic I have been in recently. When raccoons cause damage they really cause damage! Not only are their feces dangerous, which carry the raccoon roundworm, but I believe the real damage lies in the money that is wasted on higher heating bills over the lifetime of the home if that attic is not restored.
You see, raccoons in their activities trample your insulation down until it is only working at a small percentage of what it was before they got in your attic. Lower R value = Higher heating bills.
The good news is that homeowners insurance covers damage caused by raccoons. For the cost of your deductible you can get an attic that is fully restored and is more energy efficient than before the raccoons got in your attic, actually saving money in the long run. Your insurance doesn’t just repair attics but all of the damage caused by the raccoons; whether it is damage to your roof or soffit or fascia.
We do pest control, animal trapping and damage repair including repairs to your attic and replacing insulation. We are licensed, bonded, and insured. We work with insurance companies or homeowners who wish to pay out of pocket.

Raccoon Damage in Attic Illiana Wildlife Services – Indianapolis (317) 203 – 6083
Wildlife removal has been busy this week. Just in the last week I have removed a skunk that sprayed a dog from a yard in Highland, raccoons from an attic in Gary and tomorrow I am going to an appointment to remove raccoons that have been damaging insulation in an attic in Crown Point. I also have an appointment set for Saturday to trap moles in a yard in Valparaiso. We also have squirrel traps in a doctors office in Valparaiso. Animals are busy this time of year getting ready for winter. Don’t let them get established or cause to much damage in an attic before calling. They can trample insulation lowering r-value, defecate and cause thousands of dollars of damage in remediation work.
Just because we specialize from removing animals from attic doesn’t mean we don’t take care of the rest. Give us a call for any skunk trapping and animal control jobs like ground hogs, skunks living under your deck or moles digging up your yard. We would love to take care of that for you as well.
